Northshore’s new buildings are classy, contemporary learning spaces

I know what you’re thinking – Northshore Christian Grammar School (NCGS) Principal Mr Stuart Chisholm has gone to IKEA and ordered a flat-packed new office for himself – in bright yellow – with room for an indoor putting green and a spa in the back corner!

Ahh…We all love a good piece of fiction!

However, the reality is that Northshore has been struggling for some time with confined spaces due to enrolment growth and pressure in the Western Australian building industry.

The completed classrooms are now ten months over their scheduled release date, but Mr Chisholm was smiling and very thankful this week as classes began in the new rooms for Day 1, Term 4.

鈥淭here is a real answer to prayer here,” said Mr Chisholm, “because we only received the Certificate of Occupancy for the buildings at 2.00 pm on the last Friday of holidays – just in time for Term 4!”

The new dwellings are a Year 6 classroom, four new secondary school classrooms and a Libary space for students.

“There is still a steady demand from parents to enrol their children into Northshore, despite our enrolments being well over 500 students at present. These buildings demonstrate the fact that we are here to stay and we are providing contemporary learning spaces that will equip our students now and into the future.”

The students enjoyed this first week in the new rooms, with further construction underway to create a permanent home for Woodwork and other speciality subjects in the near future.

Next step – the gold-plated office for Mr Chisholm??

A few photos below show the construction and the students enjoying their new classrooms this week.
